New Greener iMac

Digg!
Apple released the new iMac today! It sports a sleek new design, which hadn't been updated in three years. It is made out of aluminum and glass and comes in 20" and 24" models.

A few things I found humorous on the iMac page show how joey Apple is:

  • "The use of recyclable glass and aluminum makes iMac friendlier to the environment, too." They have been scrutinized for their green practices, or lack thereof.

  • "With iMac, details make all the difference. For example, because it’s made from a single sheet of aluminum, you won’t see any seams or screws except for a single compartment on the bottom that provides easy access to the memory slots."

Apple is trying hard to make itself greener (environmentally friendly, for those of you still living under a rock). They are changing ways they handle waste products and promoting new, safer materials in their products. Kudos to Apple for joining the rest of the world. If Apple and Google plan to take over the world, they need to be green so they doesn't destroy it.

My favorite part of the page is this comparison pic with a comparable Dell tower.

Apple also updated iLife and iWork. You can check it all out here, Apple's newest stuff.

That's my computer. No, not the sleek mac - the bulky, wire cluttered Dell - the very same model. Except I don't have a web cam that attaches to the monitor so there's more desk clutter & I have a card reader for my camera memory card so more clutter again. I wish a pc maker would come out with a product that had the similar looks of a mac without being, well a mac. I know, I know. They are better and run faster and all that jazz but I'm used to my pc and know how to run a pc. I need my left & right click! ;)
